The Minister emphasized continuous market monitoring throughout the days of Tashreeq. This includes offering technical support to citizens, promoting proper animal selection, and raising awareness to prevent random street slaughter, thus preserving the environment and ensuring meat safety. Citizens are encouraged to use free government slaughterhouses during Eid, where livestock receive pre-slaughter veterinary examinations.
In a related context, Dr. Tareq Suleiman, Head of the Animal
and Poultry Production Development Sector, announced that all agricultural
directorates in the governorates are now coordinating. This move, in line with
the Minister of Agriculture's directives and under the Deputy Minister's
supervision, aims to intensify inspections and field follow-ups at sales
outlets and sacrifice animal selling points. The goal is to ensure the health
and safety of animals offered for sale and verify they are housed in suitable
and healthy locations.
Suleiman explained that, during the initial two days of Eid al-Adha, most sacrifice animal sales outlets and points across the country were inspected to verify the availability and safety of the animals. These field follow-ups will continue through the days of Tashreeq. Additionally, the committees are guiding citizens on essential recommendations for choosing healthy sacrifice animals and providing assistance. He emphasized that these continuous inspections reflect the Ministry of Agriculture's dedication to citizen health and safety, particularly with the anticipated rise in meat consumption during the Eid season.
