Mechanisms and ways to enhance and improve the services provided to Egyptian visitors and tourists at 15 archaeological sites across the country were also discussed, to improve the tourism experience and provide a comprehensive cultural, civilizational, and tourism experience for visitors.
Fathy directed that each site be studied individually to assess its needs and to work immediately to provide appropriate tourism services, consistent with the overall coordination of the site and the nature of the monument, ensuring that the prestige of the archaeological site is not compromised.
Service development work includes providing signage, interpretive maps, and upgraded visitor centers and restrooms, installing umbrellas and benches for visitors' comfort, and recycling bins. Additionally, brochures and leaflets about these sites will be produced in both Arabic and English. The development also includes making these archaeological sites accessible to people with disabilities by rehabilitating access paths and providing other services that enhance the visitor experience.
During the meeting, the members of the Supreme Council of Antiquities' Board of Directors approved a number of important decisions, including allowing Egyptian museum visitors of all age groups free entry to open archaeological museums nationwide on May 18, in celebration of International Museum Day. This decision excludes the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, and the Grand Egyptian Museum.
The recommendations of the Negotiation
and Evaluation Committee regarding offers to provide and operate services at
archaeological sites and museums were approved, while taking all legal measures
and adhering to applicable regulations. The Council also approved an increase
in the exceptional bonus paid to employees of the Supreme Council of
Antiquities upon reaching the legal age, starting from the next fiscal year.
The relevant regulations will be approved at the next meeting of the Supreme
Council of Antiquities' Board of Directors before implementation.
A number of decisions were also approved by the Permanent Committee for Islamic, Coptic, and Jewish Antiquities regarding the registration of three marble plaques at the Moustafa Sarmad Al-Bey Mosque on Al-Haddadin Street in Minya Al-Qamh, Sharqia Governorate, in the archaeological area registry. Several decisions were also approved by the Permanent Committee for Egyptian Antiquities regarding the work of archaeological missions in certain archaeological sites, as well as the registration of artifacts resulting from excavation work.
