Financially regulated entities granted EGP118.5 bln by February end

The latest reports from the Financial Regulatory Authority for February 2025 revealed that the total financing provided through entities under the Authority's supervision (covering capital market and non-banking financial activities) reached 118.5 billion Egyptian pounds, distributed as follows:

Share Issuances: 49.6 billion Egyptian pounds

Securities Issuances (excluding shares): 32.6 billion Egyptian pounds

Financial Leasing Contracts: 11.1 billion Egyptian pounds

Financing for Medium, Small, and Micro Enterprises (MSMEs): 8.1 billion Egyptian pounds

Consumer Finance: 6.4 billion Egyptian pounds

Discounted Papers: 7.9 billion Egyptian pounds

Real Estate Finance: 2.8 billion Egyptian pounds

Registrations on Movable Assets (Movable Guarantees Registry, end of February 2025): 3.2 trillion Egyptian pounds

Outstanding Financing Balances for MSMEs (end of February 2025): 83.3 billion Egyptian pounds

Total Insurance Premiums Collected (February 2025): 9.6 billion Egyptian pounds

Total Compensations Paid by the Insurance Sector (February 2025): 4.9 billion Egyptian pounds

New Investments in Private Insurance Funds (February 2025): 2.2 billion Egyptian pounds

Furthermore, corporate sustainable development bonds valued at 499 million US dollars were issued. The equivalent value in Egyptian pounds was calculated using the average exchange rate for February 2025, which was 50.44 Egyptian pounds per US dollar.

Regarding the insurance sector specifically, the Financial Regulatory Authority's latest reports for February 2025 indicated a total value of insurance premiums of 9.6 billion Egyptian pounds. This comprised 5.3 billion Egyptian pounds in premiums collected for property and liability insurance and 4.3 billion Egyptian pounds for personal and fund formation insurance during February 2025.

The total value of compensations paid by the insurance sector reached 4.9 billion Egyptian pounds by the end of February 2025. This included 2.2 billion Egyptian pounds in compensations for property and liability insurance and 2.7 billion Egyptian pounds for personal and fund formation insurance.

Property and liability insurance covers assets against risks such as fire or theft, including homes, cars, warehouses, goods, and other assets. Personal and fund formation insurance encompasses life insurance, death benefits, accident insurance, and various other insurance types.
