Foreign Minister reports encouraging US trade progress

Dr. Badr Abdelatty, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration, received on Tuesday evening a delegation from the American Chamber of Commerce headed by Engineer Tarek Tawfik, the Chairman of the Chamber in Cairo.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Tamim Khallaf stated that the Minister affirmed the keenness to consolidate economic, commercial, and investment cooperation between Egypt and the United States. He highlighted this cooperation as a fundamental pillar of the strategic partnership between the two countries and praised the American Chamber of Commerce in Cairo for its active role in advancing economic and investment relations.

The Minister underscored several positive developments in recent times, including the approval of safety specifications for American automobiles following extensive negotiations. Furthermore, he noted the advancement of procedures for the signing of a mutual assistance agreement in customs matters between the United States and the Egyptian Customs Authority.

The Minister outlined the state's recent efforts and reforms designed to foster a positive investment climate and enhance the business environment in Egypt, underscoring that attracting foreign direct investment represents a key priority for the Egyptian government. Furthermore, he addressed Egypt's position on various regional developments, with a primary focus on the Palestinian issue and the nation's endeavors to achieve de-escalation, the resumption of the ceasefire, and the mobilization of support for the Arab plan for the reconstruction of Gaza.

Furthermore, the meeting addressed the current arrangements for Cairo's hosting of the "Egypt Economic Future Forum" in May. This forum, organized in collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce in Washington, will feature significant participation from leading American and Egyptian companies and economic bodies. The agenda will include a review of investment opportunities across diverse sectors in Egypt and strategies to deepen the economic partnership between Egypt and the United States.

The Minister held a dynamic meeting with members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Cairo, where he received ideas and proposals to bolster economic, commercial, and investment cooperation between Egypt and the United States.
