This occurred during a meeting between Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, and Elkhan Polukhov, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Egypt It is part of the Ministry's efforts to advance joint economic relations with multilateral and bilateral development partners, and to enhance prospects for economic, investment, and development cooperation.
The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation
across various sectors, including economic ties, and preparations for the sixth
Egyptian-Azerbaijani Joint Committee for Economic, Scientific, and Technical
Cooperation, scheduled for Cairo. The committee, co-chaired by Dr. Rania
Al-Mashat and Rashad Nabiyev, aims to boost economic, trade, and tourism
cooperation for the mutual benefit of both nations.
Al-Mashat highlighted the successful visit of Ilham Aliyev,
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, to Egypt from June 7 to 8, 2024,
during which seven documents were signed in various fields. She highlighted the
strong bilateral ties and potential for expanded cooperation across various
sectors, including economy, digital transformation, youth and sports, energy,
and investment, along with other agreed-upon areas.
She emphasized the importance of the Egyptian-Azerbaijani
Business Forum, featuring representatives from both countries' companies, held
alongside the Joint Economic Committee meetings. The forum will explore
investment opportunities in both countries, highlight Egypt's investment
advantages to attract Azerbaijani capital, facilitate private sector involvement
in development, and foster new agreements across economic sectors. It will also
include discussions on investment environments and facilities.
The Minister highlighted the ongoing growth in trade, tourism, and investment, emphasizing the considerable potential for further expansion between the two economies.
