ICT Minister departs for New Delhi to attend AI Impact Summit 2026

Engineer Raafat Hindy, Minister of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), departed Cairo Tuesday morning for New Delhi, India for a three-day visit to attend the AI Impact Summit 2026.

The summit, described by organizers as a landmark event for the future of artificial intelligence, marks the first time the premier gathering is being hosted in a Global South nation.

The event is expected to draw approximately 250,000 participants, including heads of state and leaders of international organizations, industry executives from the world’s leading technology firms, and investors and researchers focused on AI innovation.

Under the theme of "Humanity, Planet, and Progress," the summit aims to establish a unified international roadmap for AI governance. Discussions will focus on human-centric innovation, environmental protection, and transitioning from political rhetoric to "tangible global cooperation."

A primary goal of the New Delhi summit is to amplify the voices of developing nations to ensure an equitable distribution of technological advancements.

Egypt’s presence underscores its ambition to remain a key player in the global digital economy. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology is set to play a prominent leadership role at the event.

Notably, Egypt will co-chair the Working Group on Democratizing AI Resources. The ministry said it aims to solidify Egypt’s influence in crafting global frameworks that ensure digital transformation provides measurable benefits to its citizens.
