The World Tourism Barometer, released by UN Tourism in January 2026, revealed that international arrivals to Egypt surged by 20% over the past year. This performance significantly outpaced the regional average growth of 3%.
The report attributed this "exceptional year" to
two primary drivers: the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, and qualitative
developments and expansions across the hotel sector.
The surge in visitors translated into a substantial financial boost, with Egypt’s tourism revenues climbing by 17%. The barometer highlighted Egypt as one of the world's top-performing nations in terms of revenue growth for the period.
