Following the recent restructuring of the IMC board, Al-Wazir mandated a shift toward clear and strategic targets designed to foster innovation and implement international best practices across the manufacturing sector.
"The center must operate according to a precise
strategic path that improves production efficiency and embeds a culture of
innovation," Al-Wazir said. He emphasized that the government’s goal is to
ensure that the IMC's efforts translate into tangible growth for the national
economy.
In a move to ensure efficiency, the minister announced that
the IMC’s performance will now be evaluated on an annual basis. Key pillars of
the new action plan include linking the IMC with leading research institutions
to bridge the gap between scientific innovation and industrial application, holding
regular monthly meetings to monitor the execution of the development plan and
review results; and encouraging investors to pivot toward promising,
high-growth industries targeted by the state.
The board discussed a comprehensive restructuring plan for
the center, which included a review of financial statements from recent years
and the approval of the budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. The meeting also
involved a deep dive into existing protocols and memorandums of understanding
signed over the past four years to assess their current impact.
Al-Wazir’s leadership of the IMC board reflects Cairo’s
broader push to centralize industrial decision-making under the Ministry of
Industry and Transport, aiming to streamline bureaucracy and accelerate the
localization of manufacturing.
The IMC is tasked with providing technical support, training, and consultancy to Egyptian factories, acting as the primary vehicle for upgrading the country's industrial base to meet international standards.
