Shimi reviews progress of Decent Life projects

Engineer Mohamed Shimi, Minister of Public Business Sector, held an extensive meeting to review the implementation status of projects being carried out by contracting companies affiliated with the Holding Company for Construction and Development, one of the companies under the Ministry, as part of the first phase of the national project to develop Egyptian rural villages, the presidential initiative "Decent Life."

During the meeting, the Minister stressed that the "Decent Life" initiative, launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, represents an unprecedented development model in the comprehensive economic and urban development process, due to its direct impact on improving the quality of life for millions of citizens.

He emphasized the need to accelerate implementation rates and complete the remaining projects according to the highest quality standards.

Engineer Shimi added that the Ministry of Public Business Sector prioritizes enhancing the developmental role of its affiliated companies and their active participation in implementing major national projects. This contributes to raising infrastructure efficiency and improving service levels across various governorates, supporting the state’s vision for advancing rural Egypt and achieving sustainable development, while positively impacting the quality of life for millions of Egyptians and consolidating the foundations of the New Republic.

The executive report presented on the 737 projects being implemented by subsidiary companies within the first phase of the Decent Life Initiative indicated that most projects have been completed, with significant progress achieved in the remaining projects, which are nearing their final stages. These projects include the construction of drinking water and wastewater networks, treatment plants, pumping stations, gravity sewer networks, and various service buildings across 13 governorates, with an estimated total cost of approximately EGP 22.5 billion.

The meeting was attended by Major General Engineer Mohamed Mostafa, Chairman of the Holding Company for Construction and Development, and Naglaa Dagher, Advisor to the Minister, along with the managing executives of the subsidiary contracting companies. They reviewed the implementation rates and discussed mechanisms to expedite work while fully adhering to technical specifications and quality standards.

The projects are being executed by major national contracting companies affiliated with the Holding Company for Construction and Development: Nasr General Contracting (Hassan Allam), Egyptian Contracting (Moukhtar Ibrahim), Egyptian Contracting Company (Al-Abd), Nasr Buildings and Construction (EGYCO), and Misr for Reinforced Concrete Works.
