The Minister emphasized that Luxor holds a prestigious global status, supported by an infrastructure of approximately 11,000 hotel rooms, making it a primary engine for Egyptian tourism. He revealed that Egypt’s annual tourism revenue has surpassed $19 billion this year, underscoring the sector's economic strength.
Minister El-Khatib noted that this tourism success creates
diverse opportunities for productive projects aimed at meeting both domestic
and export market demands. "The diversity of economic activity in Luxor is
a genuine magnet for investment," the Minister stated.
The Minister highlighted the significant development of
Luxor’s higher education sector, noting the establishment of several new
universities. This expansion aligns with the state’s strategy to link education
with labor market requirements and investment needs.
During the meeting, investors proposed initiatives to
attract international students to study in Egypt. The Minister welcomed this,
noting that such a move reflects promising opportunities in educational
investment and reinforces Egypt’s position as a regional hub for learning.
Discussions with Luxor’s investors focused on increasing the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones' involvement in the governorate, exploring available perks and mechanisms to streamline the business environment, and developing strategies to draw in more domestic and foreign direct investment (FDI) by maximizing Luxor’s unique economic assets.
