Tax Chief: Contract workers a top priority

Rasha Abdel-Aal, head of the Egyptian Tax Authority, conducted an extensive field tour of several tax offices in Alexandria on Thursday to oversee the implementation of a new package of tax facilitations.

The tour, which included the Joint Stock Companies, Investment, and Montazah I offices, follows directives from Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk to ensure the quality of services provided to taxpayers and monitor the progress of the 2025 tax filing season, which began on January 1.

"Our priority is to simplify procedures and support voluntary compliance to build a stronger partnership with the business community," Abdel-Aal said during the visit. She added that the field tours allow the authority to identify challenges firsthand and address any obstacles facing taxpayers immediately.

Addressing the concerns of contract-based employees, Abdel-Aal emphasized that their status is a top priority for the Ministry of Finance. She noted that the authority is coordinating with the Military Academy to facilitate training logistics for these workers, particularly those traveling from distant governorates.

"Do not worry. We need you, and we are working hard for your interests and support," Abdel-Aal told staff, highlighting efforts to provide on-site accommodation during training periods to ease the burden of early morning commutes.

The tax chief confirmed that field inspections will continue across all governorates to ensure the effective application of tax reforms and maintain the stability of the national tax system.

Abdel-Aal was accompanied by senior tax officials, including Abdel Megid Tayea, head of the Central Administration for Regions and Offices, and other department heads responsible for stamp duty and media affairs.
