Housing Minister eyes Sheikh Zayed road upgrades

Minister of Housing and Urban Communities Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny met with local officials on Saturday to review infrastructure upgrades and road maintenance in El Sheikh Zayed City, part of a broader push to modernize western Cairo’s urban centers.

The Minister toured several key projects aimed at improving traffic flow and road safety. During the meeting, Engineer Marwa Hussein, head of the El Sheikh Zayed City Authority, detailed ongoing maintenance on major arteries, including ElNozha, ElBostan, ElHorreya, ElAmal, ElMarwa, ElTahrir, and ElMarkazy axes.

Minister El Sherbiny instructed officials to prioritize safety features, landscaping, and aesthetic improvements across all squares and intersections.

The current phase of the plan covers more than 30 kilometers of roadway. Key works include:

ElBostan Axis: Upgrading 9.5 km of roads and connecting entrances.

ElNozha and ElShabab Axes: Renovating 15 km of road networks.

ElMarkazy Axis: Comprehensive maintenance and improved signage.

The upgrades involve repaving, sidewalk repairs, updated traffic planning, and the installation of new warning and directional signs.

Officials also confirmed that expansion work on the "Crazy Water" axis is set to begin shortly, alongside ongoing secondary road improvements across the city’s residential neighborhoods.
