El-Sherbiny checks progress of CBD Project with Chinese firm CSCEC

Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny held a meeting late yesterday with officials from China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) to follow up on the executive status of the Central Business District (CBD) project in the New Administrative Capital.

The CBD project, described by the Minister as enjoying significant high-level attention for being the first of its kind in Egypt, includes a complex of mixed-use towers. El-Sherbiny stressed the necessity of completing the project to the highest quality standards and on schedule.

The meeting reviewed the remaining work, particularly fire protection measures, and progress on the administrative and residential towers, including snagging lists in preparation for final handover. The Minister also tracked the progress on the Iconic Tower (Africa's tallest at nearly 400 meters), including interior finishing and landscaping, as well as the progress on the Crescent Towers.

CSCEC representatives affirmed their full commitment to the specified timelines and the completion of all outstanding issues.

CBD Project Overview:

The CBD comprises:

10 Mixed-Use Towers: Administrative, commercial, and services, ranging from 80m to 175m in height.

5 Residential Towers: 1,700 fully finished units, ranging from 152m to 200m in height.

Crescent Towers (4 connected): Include a hotel, hotel apartments, and entertainment services.

Iconic Tower: Approximately 400m high, featuring a new international hotel brand for the first time in Africa, alongside administrative offices and commercial space.
