Egypt, Qatar deepen economic cooperation

Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs, met on Saturday with Ali bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari, Qatar’s Minister of Finance; Sheikh Faisal Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry; and Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, Minister of Transport, on the sidelines of his participation in the Doha Forum.

The meeting discussed ways to enhance the growing cooperation between Egypt and Qatar in economic, trade, and service sectors. Abdelatty emphasized Egypt’s commitment to advancing its partnership with Qatar in a manner that serves mutual interests and opens broader avenues for collaboration between the relevant authorities in both countries.

The Foreign Minister also expressed his aspiration to build on the current momentum in bilateral relations and strengthen institutional communication between ministries and concerned agencies, contributing to the advancement of development and economic efforts in the two sister countries.

Additionally, Abdelatty met in Doha with Klaus Schwab, Chairman of the World Economic Forum. The minister highlighted the importance of opening new avenues for cooperation between Egypt and the Forum through innovative initiatives and ideas to support development efforts.

He also reviewed Egypt’s development and economic reform initiatives, noting the priority given to strengthening the role of the private sector and its central role in driving national development. He underscored the ambitious measures taken by the Egyptian government to improve the investment climate, remove obstacles facing investors, and provide further incentives to promote investment.
