The index measures the efficiency of ports through several criteria, including the waiting time for ships in the port, the efficiency of loading and unloading operations, the quality of infrastructure, the level of digitization in port management, and the extent of the port's integration with transport networks and logistical services.
The Center pointed out that this achievement is the result
of close cooperation between the state, the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), and the
Suez Canal Container Terminal (SCCT) – a subsidiary of the A.P. Moller–Maersk
group – as well as massive investments in modern infrastructure, the
application of digital systems, and the improvement of ship scheduling.
It added that this progress supports Egypt's Vision 2030 and enhances the role of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) as a global gateway for trade between the East and the West.
