The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy continued to implement its plan to strengthen and support the electricity transmission network in Sinai at high and ultra-high voltages. Al Masaeed 220/66/22 kV transformer station and the Sheikh Zuweid 66/22 kV transformer station were constructed, along with the necessary lines to connect them to the electricity grid, at a total cost of approximately EGP725 million. Al Masaeed-Sheikh Zuweid 66 kV power line, 3 kilometers long and featuring 96 electrical towers, was also constructed. The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company is currently working on several strategic projects to build and establish three Sinai crane transformer stations and their connection lines to provide electricity to development and agricultural reclamation projects in the Sinai Peninsula. These projects cost approximately EGP 2.5 billion to provide quality, stable, and continuous electricity supply within the framework of the comprehensive development plan being implemented across the peninsula.
Esmat said that the electricity and energy sector works
within the framework of a comprehensive development vision for the state, and
is racing against time to provide the necessary electricity supply for national
and strategic projects. He explained that Sinai has a large share of giant
development projects in the field of agricultural development and land
reclamation, which requires supporting and strengthening the electrical network
at the transportation level to secure and ensure the transfer of the large capacities
needed by the reconstruction and development plan in the Sinai Peninsula. He
pointed out the importance of developing the electrical network and
transforming it from a typical network to a smart network capable of absorbing
large generating capacities, especially from renewable energies, and
transmitting energy with the highest efficiency and lowest losses.
He stressed the continuation of work within the framework of the comprehensive plan to achieve energy security and increase reliance on renewable energy sources in light of the electricity mix policy to meet the growing demand. He highlighted the plan to provide the necessary electricity for all new projects, especially the reclamation and agricultural industrialization projects, greenhouses and other projects on which the Future of Egypt Authority for Sustainable Development is based. He added that providing energy for all uses is one of the most important priorities we are working on as a pillar of the requirements of sustainable development and the state's plan for economic development, attracting investments, industrial expansion and agricultural reclamation plans.
