The meeting, which was also attended by senior JETRO officials involved in monitoring cooperation with Egypt, including Executive Vice President Takafumi Suzuki, and the head of the Egyptian Commercial Office at the embassy, focused on boosting joint economic ties between the two nations.
Discussions covered avenues for cooperation, including
efforts to attract more Japanese companies and investments to the Egyptian
market through joint promotional events. They also explored a proposal to
establish a Japanese industrial zone within the Suez Canal Economic Zone, as
well as prospects for cooperation in supporting small, medium, and micro
enterprises (SMEs).
For his part, Ishiguro praised the ongoing joint cooperation with Egypt across various sectors. He commended recent high-level visits to Japan, notably by Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly for the TICAD 9 summit, Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Hassan El Khatib, and Communications and Information Technology Minister Amr Talaat. Ishiguro affirmed JETRO's commitment to strengthening cooperation with Egypt in the coming period to serve the interests of both countries.
