In a joint statement, both Ministers confirmed that 4.7 million beneficiary families of the "Takaful and Karama" program received an additional 300 EGP during the month of Ramadan, with a total cost of 1.5 billion EGP. This additional support was made available by the "State Treasury" to the Ministry of Social Solidarity to disburse to these beneficiaries, in implementation of presidential directives.
The ministers also added that the cash
support value for the beneficiaries of the "Takaful and Karama"
program will be increased by 25% starting from April 2025, with a total cost of
approximately 13 billion EGP until June 2026.
The "Takaful and Karama"
conditional cash transfer program started in 2014 with 1.7 million beneficiary
families and a cost of 3.5 billion EGP.
It is worth noting that the "Takaful and Karama" program has been evaluated as one of the best social protection programs in the Arab world, and the Ministry of Social Solidarity will celebrate its tenth anniversary in May. This program is characterized by flexibility, allowing the inclusion of new families and the exclusion of others based on the fulfillment of the established criteria.
