The ministers explored opportunities for joint agricultural
investment, the establishment of developmental agricultural projects, and the
optimal use of resources available in both countries. They also examined ways
to strengthen research cooperation and exchange knowledge and expertise between
specialized research centers. Support for Sudanese agricultural laboratories
through modern technologies and the transfer of Egyptian technical expertise to
boost efficiency was also addressed.
The meeting further covered the transfer of Egyptian
agricultural expertise to Sudan through capacity building and training.
Sudanese specialists and staff will have increased opportunities at the
International Center for Agriculture under Egypt’s Ministry of Agriculture to
enhance their skills in the latest farming techniques.
The ministers also discussed boosting trade in agricultural
and food products, overcoming logistical challenges, and exploring joint agricultural
manufacturing initiatives to increase the added value of crops.
Farouk emphasized the importance of historical ties between
the two countries, noting that agricultural integration between Egypt and Sudan
is a cornerstone of regional food security and a model for successful
partnerships across Africa. He reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to providing
technical support, sharing expertise, and applying modern technologies to
improve productivity and resource efficiency.
Qurashi highlighted
the significance of the partnership with Egypt, describing the meeting as a
strong boost to agricultural relations. He praised Egypt’s role in supporting
African nations generally, and Sudan specifically, particularly in developing
laboratories and training personnel in advanced agricultural practices. He
stressed that expanding trade and opening markets for agricultural products is
a key step toward sustainable development.
The meeting concluded with the two ministers agreeing to
form a joint technical committee and establish focal points to follow up
regularly and implement the agreements, ensuring they reflect in tangible
results that benefit the peoples of both countries.
