The meeting took place on the sidelines of the "Shanghai Cooperation Organization Plus" summit, where Madbouly is representing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Madbouly told chairwoman Kin Jun Kung that Egypt is looking
to expand its water desalination capacity and localize the industry's
components. He noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping had personally
recommended the company during their meeting.
The Prime Minister highlighted that Egypt aims to produce 10
million cubic meters of desalinated water per day within the next five to six
years.
Kung, for her part, expressed her appreciation for the
opportunity to cooperate with Egypt. She showcased her company's expertise in
desalination, including its research and development efforts to improve
techniques.
Kung presented a model of a desalination plant developed in
China with a capacity of 10,000 cubic meters per day, which can be scaled up to
meet Egypt's needs. She noted that the model is powered by renewable energy.
At the end of the meeting, Madbouly proposed that officials from both sides meet to explore potential partnerships in this vital sector.
