Madbouly appoints  Islam Azzam as Chairman of Egyptian Exchange

Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, issued Decree No. 2812 of 2025 appointing Dr. Islam Abdel Azim Azzam as Chairman of the Egyptian Exchange for a one-year term.

Azzam has held several key positions, including Vice Chairman of the Financial Regulatory Authority from January 2021 to August 2025, overseeing the capital market, insurance, and non-banking finance sectors.

He also served as an advisor to the Chairman of the Mortgage Finance Authority from 2007 to 2009, Assistant Chairman of the Capital Market Authority from 2003 to 2005, and Managing Director of the Small and Medium Enterprises Investment Fund Company. In addition, he worked as an advisor to the Minister of Investment.

Azzam is a finance professor at the American University in Cairo. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of California, specializing in econometrics, economic forecasting, and monetary policy. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University.
