ACDIMA explores expansion in pharmaceuticals, new export markets

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, held talks on Sunday with representatives of the Arab Company for Drug Industries and Medical Appliances (ACDIMA). The meeting was attended by Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation; Dr. Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Finance; and Dr. Mufid Shehab, former Minister of Parliamentary and Legal Affairs.

At the start of the meeting, Abdel Ghaffar welcomed the participants and thanked ACDIMA’s representatives for their efforts in supporting the healthcare sector, particularly in advancing the pharmaceutical industry. He stressed the importance of continuing this strategic partnership to strengthen Egypt’s capabilities in this vital field.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, said the Minister reaffirmed the state’s commitment to expanding investment in pharmaceutical manufacturing to meet local demand for medicines and medical supplies, ensure citizens have access to safe and reliable drugs, achieve self-sufficiency, and open new markets for exports.

The meeting also discussed investment opportunities in new pharmaceutical markets, Egypt’s competitiveness in regional and international exports, and expansion plans for biopharmaceutical production, with ACDIMA playing a key national role in meeting Egypt’s pharmaceutical needs.

The Minister reviewed the company’s financial statements and discussed achievements in pharmaceutical investment and localization, including partnerships with leading global firms to manufacture medicines in Egypt. This aligns with the state’s vision to strengthen domestic pharmaceutical industries and consolidate Egypt’s position as a leading regional hub for pharmaceuticals in the Middle East and Africa.

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Mohamed El-Tayeb, Deputy Minister of Health; Dr. Olfat Ghorab, Chairwoman of ACDIMA; Fetouh Salama, Financial Advisor to ACDIMA Holding; and Counselor Ahmed Weshahi, Legal Advisor to ACDIMA Holding. Joining via video conference were Counselor Mohamed El-Menshawy, Legal Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health; Counselor Moustafa El-Bahetymi, Advisor to the Minister of Justice for International Arbitration; Abdel Halim Omar, Advisor to the Minister of Finance; and Dr. Sener El-Ahdal, Supervisor of the European Cooperation Sector at the Ministry of Planning.
