Petroleum Minister attracts investment via digital portal

Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi chaired a meeting to review efforts by the Egypt Upstream Gateway (EUG), a digital platform aimed at attracting investment to boost domestic oil and gas production.

The meeting is part of the ministry's core strategy to accelerate exploration and increase local production to meet national needs. Attendees included senior ministry officials and representatives from global oilfield services company Schlumberger.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Samir Raslan, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Agreements and Exploration, Dr. Mohamed Radwan, Vice President of the South Valley Holding Company and Director of the Portal, and Geophysicist Claudio Leoni, Project Manager from Schlumberger International.

Badawi highlighted the EUG's pivotal role as a digital platform that offers investors data and technical support to expedite investment decisions. He directed the team to continuously update the investment map with new opportunities.

Dr. Radwan detailed the platform's success since its launch in February 2021. He said 47 companies have become members, and the gateway has helped attract over $1.2 billion in minimum investments to drill 127 wells across 51 areas.

Schlumberger representative, Geophysicist Claudio Leoni, outlined the company's vision to increase its investments in developing the gateway's infrastructure and supporting it with the latest technologies.
