The move comes as many digital services have been affected since Monday evening due to a fire at the Ramses exchange, a major telecommunications hub in Cairo.
The Central Bank stated the increased limit would remain in
effect "until telecommunications fully return to normal."
Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Amr Talaat announced early Tuesday that services would gradually be restored over the coming hours.
