Green Belt land regularization reopens in 6th of October City

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, has announced the reopening of applications for regularization for individuals dealing with Green Belt lands in 6th of October City. This move, in response to citizen requests, will allow applications for one month from the announcement date, facilitated by the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA).

El-Sherbiny underscored the importance of streamlining the application process while adhering to regulations. He also directed the acceleration of ongoing infrastructure, road, and electricity projects in the Green Belt to foster integrated urban communities.

Engineer Amin Ghoneim, Vice Chairman of NUCA for Real Estate and Commercial Affairs, clarified that regularization applications will be accepted in-kind only at the same location. The final deadline for contract completion is October 30, 2025. Failure to finalize procedures by this date will result in the forfeiture of applications, with land parcels reverting to NUCA. Ghoneim reiterated that this measure protects citizens from improper transactions, referencing prior announcements on Green Belt land regularization.

Engineer Mohamed Moustafa, Head of 6th of October City Authority, detailed the 12,494-feddan Green Belt development, which is divided into three zones:

October Zone (1): Covering 4,500 feddans with an infrastructure cost of approximately EGP 2.964 billion. Projects include:

236 km of utility networks (roads, water, sewage, irrigation), including force mains and crossings.

85 km of main and sub-roads and 5 wastewater pumping stations.

An 11 km, 50-meter-wide Boulevard from El Obour Axis to the Middle Ring Road.

A vehicle bridge over the "SUMED" pipeline corridor and the high-speed electric train line, connecting disparate Green Belt areas.

Electrical infrastructure, including 190 km of medium-voltage cables, 24 sub-distribution panel buildings, and a horizontal directional drilling crossing under "SUMED" lines and the high-speed electric train.

A main 7-bar gas line to supply the area with natural gas.

Second Zone: Spanning 2,242 feddans with an infrastructure cost of approximately EGP 2.153 billion. This phase includes:

138 km of main utility networks (roads, water, sewage, irrigation).

30 km of main and sub-roads.

Four tunnel crossings under the Middle Ring Road for various utility lines.

A drinking water booster station with a capacity of 26,000 cubic meters/day.

Third Zone: Encompassing 3,517 feddans. Road and utility designs are complete and reviewed, with bidding documents currently being prepared.
