Shell affirms strategic partnership with Egyptian petroleum sector

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met, Thursday, with Wael Sawan, CEO of Shell Global. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Engineer Karim Badawi, and Dalia El-Gabry, Chairperson and CEO of Shell Egypt.

Presidential spokesperson, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy reported that President El-Sisi welcomed the ongoing collaboration between Shell and Egypt, praising the company's partnership with the Egyptian petroleum sector. In response, Shell's CEO expressed gratitude for the President's consistent support for bilateral cooperation, underscoring Shell's dedication to a strategic partnership with Egypt's oil and gas sector.

The discussion also focused on enhancing existing cooperation. President El-Sisi outlined Egypt's initiatives to improve the investment climate and resolve challenges for investors. He emphasized Egypt's commitment to settling company dues, which builds trust between both parties. He also highlighted the importance of Shell increasing its exploration and development activities in its concession areas to boost production rates, ultimately helping to unlock the full potential of Egypt's oil and gas sector for mutual benefit.

Shell's CEO reaffirmed the company's commitment to continuing cooperation with Egypt and exploring further opportunities in the promising Egyptian energy sector for the mutual benefit of both sides. He commended the Egyptian government's efforts to remove obstacles in this regard.
