Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, spokesperson for the Presidency of the Republic, said that the Iraqi Foreign Minister handed the president an invitation to attend the 34th ordinary session of the Arab Summit Conference and the fifth session of the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit, which will be hosted by Baghdad on May 17, 2025, and conveyed the greetings of the Iraqi Prime Minister to the president.
El Sisi welcomed the invitation and expressed his
appreciation to the Iraqi president and prime minister, emphasizing the depth
of historical relations between Egypt and Iraq and the close ties between the
two brotherly peoples.
El-Shenawy added that the meeting discussed ways to
strengthen bilateral relations, especially in the economic, trade and
investment fields, and explore broader horizons of cooperation to achieve the
common interests of the two brotherly countries, and emphasized the continued
coordination and consultation between the two countries on various files.
The president emphasized Egypt's keenness on the
success of the upcoming Arab summit in Baghdad, and Egypt's full support for
the upcoming Iraqi presidency of the Arab summit, especially in light of the
circumstances facing the Arab region, which calls for full solidarity among
brotherly Arab countries.
El-Shenawy explained that the meeting witnessed an exchange of views on the situations in Palestine and Syria and ways to restore regional stability. The centrality of the Palestinian issue to the Arab nation and the complete rejection of the displacement of Palestinians from their land were emphasized.
