Under the leadership of Omar Hisham, the Egyptian Golf Federation is focused on optimal preparation for the upcoming championship. The event will feature over 110 male and female players from 12 countries: Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and host country Egypt. This championship aims to highlight Egypt's ability to organize major sporting championships and promote its advancements in sports facilities and infrastructure.
The championship matches were initially slated to be held at Madinaty Golf Club and Katameya Dunes, both renowned as top-tier golf courses in Egypt. This selection aimed to elevate the competition among the participants and emphasize Egypt's possession of world-class courses. Concurrently, a series of events were organized alongside the championship to showcase Egypt's sporting capabilities, most notably the opening ceremony at Madinaty Golf Club, attended by the participating teams, official delegations, and representatives of the Egyptian and Arab federations, marking the start of the accompanying sporting events.
Furthermore, the championship will feature its inaugural "Golf Festival," hosted by Madinaty Golf Club. This aims to draw public interest and foster greater community engagement with golf. The festival program includes sports and entertainment shows, notably performances by the artistic golf specialists, The Trick Shot Boys, specializing in artistic golf displays, along with the presence of international expert Nick Horrocks. Horrocks, known for developing innovative golf education programs through collaborations with Golfway, Master Golf, and the R&A, will also contribute to the festival.
Strong competition is expected at the championship among the participating teams, which features six distinct age categories including boys, girls, and ladies. This broad categorization reflects the expanding base of golf practitioners in the Arab world and the remarkable rise in participation among both youth and women.
The Arab Golf Federation (AGF) aims to elevate Arab competition through these high-quality championships, fostering emerging talents and enhancing technical exchange between national teams. The AGF also collaborates with national federations on training and development programs and the implementation of the newly adopted Arab player ranking system this season.
Egypt's connection with golf traces back to the British occupation, when the sport was introduced through the Alexandria Sporting Club. Engineer Katarashik established the club's golf course in 1932, making it one of the oldest in the country.
