Egypt launches Modon Company to operate urban communities

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, and Dr. Bahaa El-Din El-Ghannam, Director of the Egypt Future for Sustainable Development Authority, witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the New Urban Communities Authority and the Egypt Future for Sustainable Development Authority to establish an Egyptian joint-stock company called Modon Cities.

This company will provide management, maintenance, and operation services for buildings, urban communities, and infrastructure, in accordance with the latest international systems and standards. It will also supervise and monitor cleaning work in new cities using modern methodologies and specific monitoring standards to ensure sustainability and quality.

The MoU was signed by Engineer Kamal Bahgat, Vice Chairman of the New Urban Communities Authority for Development and Construction, and Engineer Mohamed Abu Taleb, Executive Director of Musanada - Egypt Future Authority.

El-Sherbiny pointed out that the MoU aims to develop a professional model for city management and maximize the efficiency of operation and maintenance of public assets, contributing to the provision of sustainable urban services that enhance the quality of life. He emphasized that efforts have been made over the past period to truly implement this approach, and that the presence of a reliable company for such tasks, including maintenance and operation, is the beginning of achieving further objectives in asset management and even the operation of some service buildings and other areas.

The MoU advances the state's vision of creating integrated, modern cities that are not limited to construction alone, but extend to include smart and sustainable operation and management. He noted that Modon will serve as an executive arm, providing services according to international standards that contribute to preserving investments and developing new urban communities.

Dr. El-Ghannam expressed his happiness with the cooperation with the Ministry of Housing, highlighting its strategic significance, and represents one of the aspects of cooperation and concerted efforts between state institutions to achieve the interests of citizens and the goals of the new republic.

He added that the MoU aims to achieve a qualitative shift in the management, maintenance, and operation of buildings, urban communities, and infrastructure. It represents an important step towards applying the concepts of sustainability and governance in public asset management, enhancing the investment climate and supporting comprehensive development plans.

Modon is scheduled to provide its services to all of the Authority's new cities across the country, with future expansion planned in accordance with sustainable urban development priorities.

It is worth noting that Musanada is a subsidiary of the Future of Egypt Fund, specializing in asset management and responsible for managing Egypt's largest strategic projects under the directives of the political leadership.
