The announcement took place during a reception hosted by Dr. Mohamed El-Badri, Egypt’s Ambassador to Berlin, in honor of the minister and the delegation participating in the Egyptian pavilion at the Fruit Logistica trade fair. The event was also attended by Egypt’s Consul General in Hamburg, Dalia Abdel Fattah.
Minister Farouk welcomed the establishment of entities that
encourage the expansion of Egyptian agricultural exports to Europe in general,
and Germany in particular. He highlighted the ministry’s focus on supporting a
new generation of Egyptian exporters equipped with modern tools in key areas
such as digitalization, promotion, marketing, packaging, and production.
He added that young exporters will take the lead in opening
new markets for Egyptian agricultural products and expanding their volume.
El-Badri praised the initiative, noting that it builds on
the foundations established by generations of leading Egyptian exporters
operating in the German and European markets. He emphasized that the council
will contribute to achieving the goal of doubling Egyptian agricultural exports
to Germany.
Abdel Fattah, Consul General of Egypt in Hamburg, explained
that it is a non-profit entity that brings together and represents Egyptian
importers in Northern Germany. Its mission is to support and develop Egyptian
exports and business activities in the region.
She highlighted that the council serves as a coordinating
umbrella for importers of Egyptian agricultural exports in Northern Germany. It
works to promote and expand these exports while addressing logistical and
technical challenges by liaising with relevant authorities in Egypt and
Germany, in coordination with the Consulate General in Hamburg, the diplomatic
mission, and the commercial office in Berlin.
The council also aims to prevent monopolistic practices,
reduce unfair competition, connect Egyptian exports in the northern states to
wider export networks across Germany and Europe, and support the formal
employment of qualified Egyptian workers in coordination with local
authorities, among other objectives.
Abdel Fattah added that the council will implement a
mediation system for the sale of Egyptian goods in Northern German markets,
establish an online platform for promotion and communication, and maintain
close coordination with the mission in Hamburg to liaise with Egyptian and
German authorities to open markets and facilitate logistics. It will also
create a network for information exchange with counterpart institutions and
explore the establishment of permanent or temporary outlets to promote Egyptian
exports.
The council’s charter was signed by representatives of seven
German companies operating in the agricultural import sector in Northern
Germany.
According to the charter, membership in the Egyptian Export
and Business Council in Northern Germany is open to all companies and
individuals involved in exporting agricultural and food products, as well as
those interested in establishing business operations and commercial
transactions in the northern states of Germany.
