Four exploratory oil wells in Western Desert add 4,500 barrels per day

Drilling results from four new exploratory oil wells in the Western Desert by Khalda, Tharwa, and Borg El Arab companies added about 4,500 barrels of crude oil per day and 2.6 million cubic feet of gas daily.

Tharwa Petroleum, a 100% Egyptian company, achieved a new discovery at the EAS Z-3 well in the East Abu Sinan area, with an initial production rate of 1,500 barrels of oil per day. Tests are ongoing to assess the size of the added reserves.

Khalda Petroleum recorded two new discoveries with total production exceeding 1,500 barrels of crude oil per day and around 1.7 million cubic feet of gas daily, through the SULTAN S-1X RC well and the ALEX NW-1X well in the Matrouh development area.

Borg El Arab Petroleum achieved a new discovery at the AS Z-2X well in the Abu Sinan development area. Test results showed production rates of 1,305 barrels per day and 0.9 million cubic feet of associated gas daily, with preparations underway to connect the well to production.

These achievements come as part of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ efforts to boost local production and reduce the import bill through intensified oil and gas exploration.
