Egypt’s Ambassador to Japan, Ragui El-Etreby, met with Shohei Hara, Senior Vice President for Private Sector Investment Finance at the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), to discuss ways to enhance economic cooperation between Egypt and Japan and strengthen the role of the private sector in supporting Egypt’s development.

During the meeting, the Ambassador reviewed Egypt’s economic developments, including the pillars of the “National Narrative for Economic Development,” which provide a clear vision for economic policies and private sector empowerment. He also highlighted Egypt’s priority of attracting more Japanese investment and proposed the establishment of a Japanese industrial zone within the Suez Canal Economic Zone.

For his part, JICA’s Senior Vice President affirmed his appreciation for the strategic partnership with Egypt, outlining the agency’s financing and investment tools and projects implemented in Egypt, particularly in renewable energy and support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Both sides emphasized their commitment to continued coordination to support future projects and enhance private sector participation, thereby contributing to advancing Egyptian-Japanese cooperation.
