Tourism Minister, Saudi Hajj Minister meet Egyptian tourism companies

Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, met today with Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, Minister of Hajj and Umrah of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The meeting included a group of Egyptian tourism companies specialized in organizing Hajj and Umrah trips. Saudi Ambassador to Cairo Saleh bin Eid Al-Husseini also attended.

Dr. Al-Rabiah’s visit comes on the sidelines of his current official trip to Egypt. He aimed to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries in areas of mutual interest.

The Saudi delegation included a number of undersecretaries and senior officials from the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

Engineer Moustafa  Ali El-Din Imam, Assistant Minister for the Minister’s Office Affairs, attended from the Egyptian side. Samia Sami, Assistant Minister for Tourism Company Affairs and Chairperson of the Supreme Committee for Hajj and Umrah, was also present. Rena Johar, Minister’s Advisor for Communication and External Relations and General Supervisor of the Department of International Relations and Agreements, attended along with several representatives from the Central Administration for Tourism Companies.

Nasser Turk, Vice President of the Egyptian Federation of Chambers of Tourism and member of the Supreme Committee for Hajj and Umrah, also attended. Ahmed Ibrahim, Head of the Religious Tourism Committee at the Chamber, and several other members of the Supreme Committee for Hajj and Umrah were present.

The ministers discussed ways to enhance cooperation in Hajj and Umrah. They reviewed preparations for Ramadan Umrah and the next tourist Hajj season to ensure successful operations similar to the previous season. They also discussed greater coordination to support the ongoing Umrah season.

The participants examined proposals and ideas aimed at improving the experience of Umrah pilgrims and religious tourists in Saudi Arabia. They focused on enhancing the quality of services provided to ensure pilgrims’ satisfaction and to keep pace with ongoing developments in the Hajj and Umrah system.

The tourism companies shared inquiries and feedback about the challenges they face in organizing Hajj and Umrah trips. The two sides agreed to study solutions to facilitate procedures and ensure proper organization.

The ministers concluded by agreeing to form a joint committee between the Egyptian and Saudi ministries. The committee will follow up on the agreements reached and implement the proposed ideas on the ground, supporting joint cooperation and serving the interests of pilgrims from both brotherly countries.
