Ministry of Supply, CIB cooperate to advance digital transformation

Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, witnessed the signing of an addendum to the cooperation protocol between the Internal Trade Development Authority and the Commercial International Bank (CIB). The addendum aims to regulate and ensure the sustainability of providing digital commercial registry services through the bank’s branches. The agreement also establishes a clear mechanism for transferring the bank’s dues related to services delivered electronically. The step paves the way for expanding the provision of all commercial registry services exclusively through digital platforms.

The signing of the addendum comes as part of the expansion of electronic service applications. The service for requesting commercial registry extracts electronically through the Digital Egypt platform was launched at commercial registry offices located within the bank’s branches starting in June 2025. The move contributed to achieving a digital transformation rate of 86 percent by November. The progress positively impacted service speed and quality, streamlined procedures for citizens, and enabled full electronic payment of service fees, including the excellence fee.

The addendum complements the cooperation protocol signed between the two sides in August 2022. The original protocol aimed to improve the quality and efficiency of commercial registry services by delivering them within CIB branches. The cooperation resulted in the opening of the first commercial registry office inside a bank branch at the Abbas El Akkad branch in Nasr City. The office represents a pioneering model for integrating government services with the banking sector. The office processed around 1,850 transactions in November alone, reflecting the success of the initiative and growing public demand.

The protocol was signed by Dr. Mohamed Awad, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Internal Trade Development Authority, and Amr El Ganainy, Executive Vice President and Board Member of CIB.

Dr. Farouk said the cooperation with CIB represents a successful model for partnership between the state and the banking sector. The minister noted that the partnership directly contributed to developing commercial registry services and delivering them to citizens in a more efficient and convenient manner. He added that the cooperation supports the state’s digital transformation drive and enhances financial inclusion. The efforts contribute positively to the investment climate and improve the business environment in Egypt.
