Cabinet denies intention to sell Egyptian airports

The Cabinet’s Media Center issued a statement on its official platforms clarifying the truth behind rumors regarding the government’s intention to sell Egyptian airports as part of its privatization program.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation affirmed that Egyptian airports are fully state-owned and under Egyptian sovereignty, noting that the government is implementing a comprehensive strategy to enhance airport efficiency and increase their capacity.

According to the Ministry, the Media Center explained that the privatization program does not aim to sell assets. Instead, it provides opportunities for partnership with the private sector in management, operation, and development, thereby improving operational efficiency, attracting additional investment, and maximizing economic returns in the aviation sector.

The statement added that the privatization program is part of the state’s strategy to expand the private sector’s role in developing and managing airports and improving service quality in line with the latest international standards and technologies.

The program also aims to raise the level of services provided to passengers and accommodate the growing increase in travel and tourism.
