Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly held a meeting today to review the current progress of construction and development at the new urban development on Warraq Island.

The meeting was attended by Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities; Major General Mohamed Magdy Abu Shemela, Giza Security Director; Engineer Ahmed Omran, Deputy Chairman of the New Urban Communities Authority for the Utilities Sector; Engineer Osama Shawky, Head of the Warraq New City Development Authority; and several other relevant officials.

Dr. Madbouly emphasized that the meeting is part of the ongoing monitoring of this high-priority project, aiming to accelerate implementation across all components, achieve the project’s objectives in delivering a transformative urban development, and enhance its economic, tourism, and social value.

The Prime Minister stressed that completing all development projects on Warraq Island according to the approved plans and timelines is a top priority, while firmly addressing any attempts at encroachment or unauthorized construction within the island’s boundaries.

Counselor Mohamed El-Homsani, official spokesperson for the Cabinet, stated that the meeting reviewed the current status of various ongoing works within the new urban development. Discussions included the disbursement of compensations to Warraq Island residents based on the proposed alternatives, the progress of utility infrastructure works, and the housing projects within the urgent phase. This phase includes the construction of approximately 94 towers comprising 4,092 residential units, along with various facilities such as a service center, primary and secondary schools, a youth center, a shopping center, a nursery, and a family health unit.

The spokesperson added that the meeting also addressed planning and design steps for implementing the directive to establish a tourist promenade along the Nile Corniche within the new urban development, as well as the creation of a distinctive central park, in line with the state’s vision to provide recreational and leisure spaces for residents and visitors.
