Al Wazir leads Egyptian delegation to IMO General Assembly in London

Lieutenant General Kamel Al Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, began a visit to London to head the official Egyptian delegation to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) General Assembly meetings. Egypt is seeking re-election to Category C on the IMO Council.

During the meetings, Minister Al Wazir will present Egypt’s key qualifications for council membership, highlighting its prominent role as a leading maritime nation. He will also review Egypt’s ambitious strategy over recent years to develop and modernize its ports and establish new ones, which play a pivotal role in supporting regional and international trade, particularly through the Suez Canal, one of the world’s most important maritime routes.

The minister is scheduled to meet with transport ministers from friendly and allied countries, as well as CEOs of major international companies operating in the transport and industry sectors, and representatives from chambers of commerce. Discussions will focus on joint cooperation and exploring investment opportunities in both sectors, given Egypt’s promising investment climate.
