Yomna El-Bahar, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, held a series of official and professional meetings on the sidelines of the opening of the archaeological exhibition, "Ancient Egypt Reveals Itself: Treasures from Egyptian Museums," in Hong Kong.

The Deputy Minister met with Rosanna Law, the Hong Kong Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, several officials from the Investment Promotion Department, and a group of hotel investors. The meetings were attended by Ambassador Baher Shweky, Egypt’s Consul General in Hong Kong.

The discussions covered ways to enhance tourism cooperation between Egypt and Hong Kong and mechanisms for attracting investments to Egypt. This is part of the ministry’s strategy aimed at doubling Egypt’s existing hotel capacity to accommodate the expected increase in tourist numbers in the coming years, diversify sources and types of hotel investment, and grow inbound tourism to the Egyptian destination.

El-Bahar reviewed the latest developments in Egypt’s tourism sector and highlighted the ministry’s strategy, which aims to showcase the diversity of tourist products offered by Egypt to become the world’s leading destination in terms of diverse tourism offerings in the coming years.

In her meeting with Law, they discussed ways to support and strengthen joint cooperation in tourism. They also discussed the "Ancient Egypt Reveals Itself" exhibition. Secretary Law praised the exhibition and the distinctive artifacts it presented, expressing her deep admiration for the treasures of ancient Egyptian civilization, one of the most ancient on earth. She commended Egypt's choice of Hong Kong as the next stop after Shanghai, China, to display the ancient Egyptian treasures and looked forward to further cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to enhance bilateral relations.

Meeting with officials from Hong Kong's Investment Promotion Department, the Deputy Minister showcased tourism investment opportunities in Egypt, especially in the hotel sector. She gave a presentation highlighting the diverse components and tourism products of the Egyptian destination, which cater to the tastes of various tourist segments, thereby opening up many avenues for investment and tourism attraction in Egypt.
