Minister of Industry and Transport inaugurates major food industry expansions

In line with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives to advance the industrial sector and establish Egypt as a regional manufacturing hub, Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, concluded an inspection tour of major food processing facilities in Nubariya and Sadat City. The tour focused on monitoring the implementation of industrial expansion plans and localizing manufacturing.

The Minister was accompanied by Dr. Nahed Youssef, Head of the Industrial Development Authority (IDA), and other senior ministry officials.

The Minister inaugurated five new production lines at the Beyti Food Industries factory, a subsidiary of the Almarai Group, in Nubariya (Beheira Governorate), representing an investment of EGP 1 billion.

Minister El-Wazir hailed the expansion as an "outstanding model" of serious investment supporting national industry. He noted that the new lines, which raise the total to 32, will enhance the company’s capacity to meet growing domestic demand and increase exports, while also supporting the state's efforts to create an attractive investment environment.

The Minister highlighted that the Beyti factory, spanning 120 feddans, is one of Egypt's largest food facilities, with an annual production capacity of 650,000 tons and over 130 products exported to 45 countries.

He inspected new production lines for cheese, juices, and yogurt, noting the integration of advanced technology, including a domestically manufactured machine with international specifications for the cheese line.

Beyti representatives showcased the facility's operations, including the only line in Egypt for ultra-high-temperature (UHT) long-life milk, and highlighted an integrated solar energy system that produces 7.6 megawatts, supporting the state's clean energy transition.

The Minister then toured three recently launched factories in Sadat City, which are set to significantly boost the food sector and local manufacturing. The first stop was Mima Foods (Diverse Foods Trading Group), specializing in manufacturing frozen fruits and vegetables. This facility represents a EGP 1 billion investment with an annual capacity of 26,000 tons.

While there, the Minister focused on the human element, speaking with workers to ascertain their job satisfaction, living conditions, and wages, stressing that employee well-being is a top state priority.

Next, he visited Puris Food Industries (Beverages and Water), a carbonated beverages manufacturer with an investment of EGP 575 million and an annual capacity of 110 million liters. The facility utilizes 80% local components. El-Wazir directed Puris officials to aggressively promote export plans, emphasizing the state's commitment to boosting the global competitiveness of Egyptian industrial products.

The tour concluded at Kary Food Industries, a $40 million USD investment focused on producing concentrates, including natural fruit, chili paste, and tomato paste, with an annual capacity of 102,000 tons. The Minister stressed the importance of applying the latest quality standards and modern techniques to deepen local manufacturing across all facilities.

Minister El-Wazir emphasized that the advanced projects witnessed in Nubariya and Sadat reflect the significant development of Egypt's food processing sector, backed by ambitious investment visions and manufacturing technologies that meet global standards. He reaffirmed the government's continued support for serious factories that contribute to food security, increase local production, and expand export capacity, ultimately serving the goals of comprehensive industrial base development and sustainable economic growth.
