Japanese official notes strong investment trend in Egypt

In efforts to propel economic ties between Egypt and Japan to broader horizons, Ragy El Etreby, Egypt's Ambassador to Japan, met with Ambassador Motosada Matano, Japan's Assistant Minister for International Economic Affairs, to discuss ways to develop economic cooperation and maximize the benefit from the existing strategic partnership.

The meeting focused on the comprehensive economic and structural reforms recently implemented in Egypt, which have contributed to enhancing the investment environment and opening new opportunities for international partners.

El Etreby stated that the Egyptian government places special importance on encouraging Japanese companies to invest in the fields of the green economy, renewable energy, infrastructure, transport, and technological industries. This includes establishing a Japanese industrial zone within the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), which would enhance Japan's utilization of Egypt's strategic position.

Ambassador Matano expressed Japan’s appreciation for the level of ongoing cooperation with Egypt, praising the promising opportunities the Egyptian economy offers to Japanese investors. He confirmed Japan’s interest in boosting the presence of its companies in Egypt's national projects, particularly in the fields of clean energy and high value-added productive sectors. He further affirmed a strong trend among the Japanese business community towards investing in Egypt in the coming period.
