El-Etreby addressed the progress of Yazaki’s ongoing project
in the Fayoum Free Zone, scheduled to begin full operations by June–July 2026,
creating over 1,500 direct jobs.
The discussions focused on the company’s potential future
expansion into additional manufacturing facilities in Egypt, in line with the
Egyptian government’s priorities to localize the automotive industry. The
meeting also explored establishing a Research and Development (R&D) center
to support Yazaki’s activities in Egypt.
El-Etreby praised the company’s global leadership and its
investments in Egypt. He highlighted the government’s efforts to support
industry, especially through extensive sectoral reforms aimed at developing the
private sector and attracting more foreign investment, including in automotive
and component manufacturing.
Yazaki officials appreciated the significant support
provided by the Egyptian government to Japanese investments. They emphasized
that investing in Egypt is a strategic step to expand production and meet the
needs of regional and global markets. They also noted Egypt’s strategic
location, unique investment incentives, and multiple free trade agreements
providing preferential access to international markets.
