The meeting was attended by Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of
Social Solidarity, and Walid Al Faqi, Egypt’s Ambassador to Qatar.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani welcomed
Prime Minister Madbouly and his accompanying delegation. He acknowledged
Madbouly’s participation, on behalf of President El Sisi, in the first summit
of the Global Alliance for Combating Hunger and Poverty, as well as in the
second Global Social Development Summit. The Qatari Prime Minister also extended
his congratulations to President El Sisi, Prime Minister Madbouly, and the
Egyptian people on the official inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum,
praising the impressive celebrations held on this occasion.
Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the importance of strengthening
bilateral relations between the two countries across various fields and
supporting and activating Qatari investments in Egypt across several sectors.
He affirmed Qatar’s full support for Egypt’s efforts on multiple levels,
praised the ongoing coordination between the two countries on the Palestinian
issue, and expressed his hope for continued joint coordination on several other
files to benefit both countries and the region and serve their peoples.
During the meeting, Madbouly conveyed President El Sisi’s
greetings to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar. He
expressed his pleasure in meeting Sheikh Mohammed and noted his honor in
participating, on behalf of President El Sisi, in the first summit of the
Global Alliance for Combating Hunger and Poverty and the Social Development
Summit. He stressed Egypt’s appreciation of Qatar’s important role in various
issues, the strong ties between the two countries, and the desire to strengthen
and expand cooperation, particularly in economic, investment, and trade
matters.
Advisor Mohamed El Homsany, official spokesperson for the
Egyptian Cabinet, stated that the meeting addressed a number of topics and
issues of mutual interest, particularly the latest developments in the Gaza
Strip, in addition to efforts to implement the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Agreement
on the ceasefire.
The spokesperson added that the meeting also discussed the
importance of advancing the implementation of the recommendations and
resolutions of the sixth session of the Egypt-Qatar Supreme Committee, held
last August in New Alamein City, to further strengthen bilateral relations. The
meeting emphasized the importance of executing the memoranda of understanding
signed during that session to achieve the interests of both sides.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to
activate a package of Qatari investments in Egypt, which had been discussed in
previous talks between President El Sisi and Emir Tamim. Implementation will
begin in the coming days with the signing of a major Egyptian-Qatari investment
partnership to develop a project in the “Samala & Alam El Rum” area in
Matrouh.
