Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, received Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly on the sidelines of the first summit of the Global Alliance for Combating Hunger and Poverty, held in Doha. Madbouly attended the summit on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity, and Walid Al Faqi, Egypt’s Ambassador to Qatar.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani welcomed Prime Minister Madbouly and his accompanying delegation. He acknowledged Madbouly’s participation, on behalf of President El Sisi, in the first summit of the Global Alliance for Combating Hunger and Poverty, as well as in the second Global Social Development Summit. The Qatari Prime Minister also extended his congratulations to President El Sisi, Prime Minister Madbouly, and the Egyptian people on the official inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum, praising the impressive celebrations held on this occasion.

Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries across various fields and supporting and activating Qatari investments in Egypt across several sectors. He affirmed Qatar’s full support for Egypt’s efforts on multiple levels, praised the ongoing coordination between the two countries on the Palestinian issue, and expressed his hope for continued joint coordination on several other files to benefit both countries and the region and serve their peoples.

During the meeting, Madbouly conveyed President El Sisi’s greetings to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar. He expressed his pleasure in meeting Sheikh Mohammed and noted his honor in participating, on behalf of President El Sisi, in the first summit of the Global Alliance for Combating Hunger and Poverty and the Social Development Summit. He stressed Egypt’s appreciation of Qatar’s important role in various issues, the strong ties between the two countries, and the desire to strengthen and expand cooperation, particularly in economic, investment, and trade matters.

Advisor Mohamed El Homsany, official spokesperson for the Egyptian Cabinet, stated that the meeting addressed a number of topics and issues of mutual interest, particularly the latest developments in the Gaza Strip, in addition to efforts to implement the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Agreement on the ceasefire.

The spokesperson added that the meeting also discussed the importance of advancing the implementation of the recommendations and resolutions of the sixth session of the Egypt-Qatar Supreme Committee, held last August in New Alamein City, to further strengthen bilateral relations. The meeting emphasized the importance of executing the memoranda of understanding signed during that session to achieve the interests of both sides.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to activate a package of Qatari investments in Egypt, which had been discussed in previous talks between President El Sisi and Emir Tamim. Implementation will begin in the coming days with the signing of a major Egyptian-Qatari investment partnership to develop a project in the “Samala & Alam El Rum” area in Matrouh.
