Dr. Sherif Hazem, the minister’s advisor for engineering affairs, stated that the commemorative set comprises six denominations in gold and silver: 1 EGP, 5 EGP, 10 EGP, 25 EGP, 50 EGP, and 100 EGP. Each coin bears a unique design highlighting the museum's distinctive architectural and archaeological elements, including the Hanging Obelisk, the main facade and entrance, the Solar Boat, the statue of Ramses, and the golden mask of Tutankhamun.
Hazem expressed appreciation for the fruitful cooperation
with Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the GEM, which included coordinating the
issuance of a certificate accompanying each coin, detailing the design's
historical information and technical specifications.
Gamal Hussein, the new head of the General Treasury and Mint
Authority, confirmed that the commemorative collection was produced and
manufactured through the cooperation of specialist designers, engineers, and
technical labour at the Mint, adhering to the highest standards of quality and
technical accuracy.
He added that the date and locations for the release of these special editions will be announced simultaneously with the Grand Egyptian Museum's opening. Hussein noted that this issue is a continuation of previous series documenting major national projects such as the New Suez Canal, the New Administrative Capital, and the Decent Life initiative.
