Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk discussed with the Lebanese Minister of Agriculture Dr. Nizar Hani, means of enhancing cooperation and facilitating the flow of agricultural goods via periodic joint monitoring. This discussion occurred on the sidelines of a high-level regional conference in Bari, Italy, focused on supporting the FAO's plant health strategy. The meeting was attended by Dr. Saad Moussa, the supervisor of foreign agricultural relations.

Farouk underscored the political leadership's commitment to providing comprehensive support to fellow Arab states, noting the Ministry of Agriculture's full preparedness to offer essential technical support to the agricultural sector in Lebanon. He stressed the importance of integration between the two countries through the ongoing monitoring of local market dynamics and requirements in the context of prevailing regional conditions.

The Minister of Agriculture stated that Egypt has made significant efforts in land reclamation for vertical agricultural expansion, prioritizing strategic crop cultivation, particularly in new areas, and rationalizing irrigation water. Furthermore, Egypt focuses on supporting small farmers by providing essential production inputs, especially for strategic crops.

The Lebanese Minister lauded the significant development and agricultural renaissance in Egypt. He expressed his desire to leverage Egyptian expertise in various areas, including digital transformation, the smart agricultural holding card, agricultural mapping, contract farming, and other agricultural activities crucial for Lebanon's sustainable development and food security.

Both sides affirmed the need for agricultural integration by facilitating the exchange of necessary agricultural goods and cooperating in agricultural manufacturing, refrigeration, and preservation. They agreed to urgently convene the joint agricultural committee to explore mechanisms for expediting the flow of agricultural products between their countries.
