PM, CBE Governor follow up on economic coordination, foreign reserves

Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly met this evening at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital with Hassan Abdalla, Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE). The meeting was part of the regular follow-up on efforts to coordinate fiscal and monetary policies.

Cabinet Spokesman Counselor Mohamed El-Homsani said the meeting reviewed coordination efforts between the government and the CBE. He explained that the discussion focused on the role of this coordination in maintaining the downward trend in inflation rates.

El-Homsani added that the meeting also discussed the latest developments in Egypt’s foreign exchange reserves. He confirmed that the reserves remain at reassuring and stable levels.

The spokesman noted that the CBE Governor briefed the Prime Minister on the results of his recent visit to Washington, D.C. He attended the Spring Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. The Egyptian delegation included several ministers from the economic group.

Abdalla said he held a series of important meetings with senior officials from the IMF and the World Bank on the sidelines of the Spring Meetings. He explained that these discussions focused on strengthening ongoing cooperation between Egypt and the two international institutions.
