Dr. Abdul Aziz El-Sherif, Minister Plenipotentiary of Trade and head of the Egyptian Commercial Representation Authority, met with Ahmed Ouzok, President of the Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters' Association (ITHIB) and Vice Chairman of Kipas Holding Group, and Ahmed Şişman, Vice President of ITHIB and Chairman of Hassan Group, a prominent non-woven fabrics producer.
The discussions focused on the two Turkish companies'
proposals to expand their investments in textile production in Egypt. Officials
highlighted the promising opportunities and attractive investment facilities in
the Egyptian market, touting the country's competitive advantages as an
industrial and export hub for regional and African markets.
El-Sherif affirmed Cairo's commitment to deepening industrial
partnerships with Turkey, particularly in spinning, weaving, and feeder
industries. He stressed that the proposed Turkish expansions align with Egypt's
strategy to deepen local manufacturing and increase added value.
Ahmed Ouzok stated that Kipas Holding, with an annual
turnover of around $2 billion, was among the first Turkish firms to invest in
Egypt, operating Mega Textiles in Sadat City since 2007, producing ready-made
garments.
Ouzok announced the group's intent to inject a new $100
million investment to establish an integrated industrial project for denim
fabric production. The project, spanning 150,000 square meters, is planned for
Sadat City, adjacent to their existing factory to leverage infrastructure and
technical expertise.
In parallel, Hassan Group Chairman Ahmed Şişman expressed
his group's interest in new expansions for non-woven fabric production in
Egypt, aiming to transfer Turkish expertise to the local market.
The Commercial Representation's Investment Promotion
Department, working with the Istanbul Commercial Office, arranged follow-up
meetings for the Turkish executives with key Egyptian officials. These included
Dr. Nahed Youssef, Head of the General Authority for Industrial Development,
and Walid Gamal El Din, Head of the Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority, along
with industrial developers, to secure suitable sites and present available
incentives.
The meeting is part of Egypt's broader strategy to enhance Egyptian-Turkish industrial cooperation, attract high value-added investments, and ultimately localize industry and boost Egyptian exports globally.
