Egypt agricultural exports surge by $980 million

Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, received a report from Dr. Mohamed El-Mansy, Head of the Plant Quarantine Authority, regarding the total agricultural exports from January 1, 2024, to October 16 of the current year. The report indicated that agricultural exports surpassed 6.9 million tons of agricultural products, valued at approximately 4 billion and 37 million US dollars. This represents an increase of 980 million US dollars and more than 574 thousand tons compared to the same period last year.

The report highlighted that the leading agricultural exports were citrus fruits, potatoes, onions, grapes, beans, mangoes, tomatoes, garlic, strawberries, guava, and pomegranates.

Total citrus fruit exports reached 2,274,295 tons, making it the top agricultural export. Fresh potato exports followed at 973,130 tons. Onion exports ranked third at 281,785 tons. Beans (fresh and dried) secured the fourth position with a total of 225,035 tons, followed by grapes in fifth place with 179,993 tons. Potatoes ranked sixth, mangoes seventh, and pomegranates eighth in terms of agricultural exports. Egypt's tomato exports ranked ninth, followed by garlic in tenth place. Strawberries were in eleventh place, and guava ranked last in the list.
