PM chairs Supreme Hajj Committee meeting

Prime Minister Dr Moustafa Madbouly chaired a meeting of the Supreme Hajj Committee late yesterday to ensure readiness and coordination for the upcoming 2026 Hajj season, a cabinet statement said.

 The meeting focused on measures to provide optimal services for Egyptian pilgrims and guarantee they can perform the rituals with ease.

The committee's discussions centred on proposed regulations for the 1447 Hijri/2026 AD Hajj season. The Prime Minister directed full coordination with the Saudi side to implement all necessary controls to ensure the safety of all pilgrims and the best possible performance of the rituals.

Attendees included Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Dr. Maya Morsy, Minister of Social Solidarity, Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, Minister of Awqaf (Religious Endowments), Mohamed Gobran, Minister of Labour, Montasser Manaa, Deputy Minister of Civil Aviation, and Dr.Amr Kandil, Deputy Minister of Health and Population, along with several assistant foreign and interior ministers and officials from concerned bodies.

Madbouly stressed that the committee's convocation was in pursuit of effective coordination among the various relevant bodies to ensure preparedness for Egyptian pilgrims.

During the session, Major General Tarek Abdel-Razek, Assistant Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers for Financial and Administrative Affairs, presented an assessment of the past 1446 Hijri Hajj season. He reviewed the visa quotas allocated to internal bodies for Egyptian pilgrims, highlighting positives such as securing premium locations for lottery camps in Arafat and Mina, and an additional camp area in Mina.

Abdel-Razek also noted that the Egyptian Hajj Affairs Office had received an Award of Excellence for the first time, placing it among eight countries in the Islamic world. He also addressed challenges faced by the mission and the actions taken to address them.

The committee also reviewed the annual medical procedures and examinations for Egyptian pilgrims, in line with Health Ministry regulations, including the electronic registration of health data for sick pilgrims to ensure quality medical service. It was also noted that the EgyptAir fleet is fully ready to transport all Egyptian pilgrims.
