El-Sherbiny oversees completion of Mohamed bin Zayed Axis in New Cairo

Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Sherif El-Sherbiny is overseeing the final stages of a major road development project in New Cairo, which will connect the city to the New Administrative Capital.

The Mohamed bin Zayed axis project is part of directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to upgrade the country's main road network.

El-Sherbiny emphasized the importance of improving roads in new cities, maintaining their visual appeal, and preventing littering. He also highlighted the need for regular maintenance to protect investments and maximize their benefits.

The development work included paving the main lanes with asphalt using FDR recycling technology, covering six kilometers with a width of 18 meters in each direction, and an average of five traffic lanes in each direction. About 80% of the road's curbs have been completed.

The use of FDR technology ensures the application of the latest engineering methods to enhance road efficiency. The work is progressing on schedule and with the highest quality standards, in line with the state's plan to develop its vital road network.

Meanwhile, development work continues in the Gardenia district of New Cairo's Third Settlement. Officials reviewed progress rates for various project components.

They also emphasized the need to complete road and sidewalk work as quickly as possible, while focusing on landscaping and planting to add a civilized and aesthetic touch that befits the residents, as the visual appearance is just as important as completing utilities and infrastructure.

Officials from the New Cairo City Authority confirmed that the upgrade plan will not be limited to the Gardenia district but will extend to other areas, including the Al-Andalus, Al-Lotus, Tamr Henna, and Al-Qoronfel Villas districts. They also stressed the need for regular maintenance of roads, sidewalks, and greenery in all neighborhoods to preserve the civilized appearance of New Cairo.
