Egypt's inflation falls to 12% in August, Cabinet says

In a statement released Wednesday, the Egyptian cabinet announced that the annual urban inflation rate for the Arab Republic of Egypt had fallen to 12% in August 2025, down from 13.9% in July and 14.9% in June.

The cabinet's media center attributed the decline to several factors, primarily a slowdown in the monthly inflation rate and the country's current monetary policy.

The statement noted that this trend indicates an improvement in inflation expectations, a view supported by Fitch Ratings. The agency, according to the statement, anticipates that the short-term drop in inflation and interest rates will help ease pressure on household budgets.
